Environment 8/10 Service 10/10 Food 10/10 If you're craving authentic Afghan food, De Afghanan Kabob House is the spot. I hadn't had Afghan food in a while, and this place reminded me just how incredible it can be. The flavors are so rich and vibrant, it felt like a little culinary trip to another country. The service was on point. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Even with a group of six, we were seated right away, which is rare these days. The space is cozy with a good amount of seating, but it's the food that truly steals the show. I had the beef kabob, and my sons went for the chicken. Both were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. And let me tell you about the bread, it's dangerously good. I could eat it all day, no exaggeration. We also tried the mantu (dumplings), and wow. They're hard to describe because they're so unique, delicate, flavorful, and unforgettable. A good friend of mine, who knows Afghan food well, swears by this place, and I have to agree. It's hands down one of the best spots in the Bay Area for authentic Afghan cuisine. Don't sleep on this gem!

These folks know a thing or two about hospitality. I've never seen them fail. Not once. Someone wanted to sit outside for their meal on a hot day, I thought. The owner quickly rushes outside and sets up the awning and umbrellas. Plus he is super-welcoming, every single time. The food is freshly made, excellent, and very consistent. Killer piping hot Bolani that is served with a tangy cilantro chutney. The Qabili pallow and Sabzi Challow are SO well made and served with fall-of-the-bone lamb shank, that is perfectly seasoned. Very tasty eggplant borani with the same well-seasoned challow - for when I crave vegetarian. Their shornakhod is a great accompaniment to everything else on the platter (it is pretty tangy, but I like it). Very nicely seasoned Chicken Kabob. The firni did not work for me, but I'll be back for the other desserts. A solid 4.5. This place will always be a regular for me, and has my highest recommendation.
